“And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12

Bishop Maynard’s concern for the growth and edification of God’s people extends beyond the church. In 1997, as Cathedral Of Praise (formerly Pentecostal Tabernacle) began planning for the construction of the new 1800 seat Sanctuary and Worship Center. Bishop Maynard chose Church Builders United, a partnership of minority-owned contractors. In addition, minority and women-owned businesses worked as sub-contractors on the project. Bishop Maynard further insisted that the labor force be made up of a significant number of minorities. Thus, approximately eighty-percent of the laborers working on the construction of the facility were African-American and Latino. Other churches building new facilities are now patterning this model. For his efforts, and his many contributions for the establishment of entrepreneurial enterprises, Bishop Maynard received the “R. H. Boyd Business Advocate of the Year 1999” award.
Bishop Maynard, a pioneer in ministry, utilizes new technology and the media to reach the masses. The Word Of Life Ministries daily radio broadcasts, national weekly telecast, and website are ways in which Bishop Maynard delivers his messages of “Maximizing Your Potential.”
Bishop Maynard is married to Dr. Mary T. Maynard who is retired as the Deputy Superintendent of Schools in DeKalb County Georgia.
